Hi! First of all, thank you for clicking and being here! It's lovely to know that we have like-
minded, planet-loving pals all around us. Even if we're spread across the country, we're connected here.
If you know The Fire Pit, you probably know we are a big family made up of nature-loving eco warriors who enjoy yoga, slow food, parties & gatherings, plants, wildlife and all things green! One of the main reasons we moved to Norfolk from London is for the wildlife, countryside and the stunning North Norfolk Coast. We set up The Fire Pit Camp in 2016 to create a space for people to come together and Party Lightly on the Planet. Since then we have evolved into a gorgeous venue perfect for festival style weddings, parties and glamping.
All of the Fire Pit Family have lived onsite at some point over the last 20 years, some are still doing so now and we share the land alongside an abundance of wildlife, we've had muntjac hopping through the lawn, hares and rabbits, friendly Wren's sharing the Wren's Nest (of course that's where it gets it's name!), moles, little shrew families, butterflies, bees, the barn owl who makes an appearance across the camping meadow daily, (in fact the first time the Fire Pit grandparents Pam and Kieran walked into the warehouse the barn own was inside too!) buzzards, woodpeckers, and many more. We love hearing stories from our guests who have spotted such wonderful sightings of nature and thanks to the lack of light pollution we have had nighttime sky shows of shooting stars, the International Space Station, meteor showers, planet spotting and moon gazing whilst sat around the fire - just take a look at the starts over The Wren's Nest by photographer Owen Howells (in lockdown we took The Wren's Nest back to it's original branches, lovingly laid chemical free hessian and natural sheeps wool for insulation then covered it with an epic, bespoke made canvas for a new updated Nest cover and new wood burning stove)
The slow-living, back to nature getaway that glamping provides is one of the most eco-friendly ways to travel and explore what the UK has to offer. The climate crisis we are in right now leaves the planet begging us to lower our air mileage, enjoy what's on our doorstep and lower the consumerism that typical tourism encourages. Not only is glamping kind to the planet but also to the soul and what better time is there to look after yourself and the planet than now, after the past 2 years of collectively fighting a pandemic. Our glamping holidays are here to hug you, give you a break, enjoy some quality time with loved ones away from tech, nourishing wholesome food that you can forage and cook on an open fire, tell stories and laugh, run around the field with no shoes on - honestly, it feels great.
We are surrounded by wonderful places to visit and great days out, firm favourite with the kids are the beaches on the North Norfolk Coast which are just jaw-dropping, you can expect seals, sunsets and historical coastlines...fossil finding, beach combing and shore line splashing, many great beaches have life-guard swimming, beach hut day hires and brilliant restaurants - or ask for a Fire Pit Picnic hamper to take out. Just 30 minutes down the A47 you have Norwich, which is completely underrated and so worth a visit, it's got vibrant history, a Castle, is buzzing with fantastic independent shops, an award-winning covered market and lanes all of which are full of an awesome array 0f artisan coffee spots, bakeries, delis and restaurants that your taste buds won't forget (did you know it's the vegan capital city of the UK!) and a bloody good night out if you fancy a dance.
The Sainsbury's Centre for Visual Arts Gallery, set within magnificent UEA grounds is well worth a visit and walk/run around, we're so near to the other kid's favs 'Roarr Dinosaur Adventure' which is only 11 miles from camp, Gressenhall Rural Life Museum, working traditional farm and adventure playground is about 10 mins away too. Easy to also reach are Bewilderwood natures theme park on the broads, Pensthorpe Natural Park and Holkham Hall combines adventure play, bike hire and the beach visits through the pines. Norfolk has 3 major RSPB Sites, Snettisham, Titchwell Marsh (both also on the Coast) and Stupmshaw Fen (nearer to Norwich and The Broads National Park) as well as the coastal site of Norfolk Wildlife Trust's Cley Marshes. All incredible for birdwatching, walks, rambles (even kayak at Strumpshaw Fen or Canoe through Norwich using Pub & Paddle tour canoe hire for kingfishers - in fact Sah and Matt here have a canoe and can share their insider tips on the kingfisher finding!)
If you feel like you really could do with a break, or have always just wanted to try a one night here (which we really recommend in winter as it's so cosy!) this is for you....we are offering a special price for glamping in The Wren's Nest this Jan-March you'll receive 50% off stays in our incredible hand-built, natural hazel structure with brand new sheeps wool insulation and bespoke canvas.... making it only £100 per night for 2-4 guests or £137.50 for up to 6 guests all with bedding and some wood included. Think about the practice supper. While most couples choose for go through the standard 'meet and welcome,' practice their stroll down the path to dispose of those pre-function butterflies and afterward plunk down to a match profile light repast a few ladies and grooms decide to imbue this social event with their own personal one of a kind wedding thoughts.
